Food for Fines!
Helping Those in Need While Clearing Library Fines

Have an overdue book or DVD or CD from your library?  You will have a chance to clear your library fines and help others by donating food during a Food for Fines program at your local library.

From February 19 through February 28, libraries in the Umatilla County Special Library District will accept food items that will be sent to their local food banks to help those in need.

This highly successful partnership program allows library patrons to take nonperishable food items into their local library during business hours, and have up to $5 in fines forgiven from their account.  Each item donated will forgive $1 in fines.  Donations will waive library fines only, not fees for lost or damaged items.

All collected food is donated to the nearest, local food bank.  Nonperishable food items must be in the original, undamaged packaging - cans, boxes, or plastic containers. Glass containers, perishable food, opened containers or items that are past the expiration day cannot be accepted.

This library community food drive presents a great opportunity for residents to give back to the community and take advantage of the great collections and programs that libraries offer, such as best sellers, downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks, computer classes, storytimes, music, movies, and much more.

Check with your local library for details.  Libraries in the Umatilla County Special Library District are as follows:
