Kids Can Learn More about the Upcoming Eclipse - May 20

Big Eclipse coverAuthor and artist Nancy Coffelt will visit our library on May 20 and share her book about the total solar eclipse that will occur on August 21, 2017. The program will start at 10:30 a.m. and last for an hour.

Through a story time (using The Big Eclipse book) and easy craft projects, kids ages 5-11 (and their parents) will learn why it is important to “Be Wise, Protect Your Eyes” and become prepared for this exciting astronomical event.

Participants will also receive materials to take home to learn more about the eclipse.

Nancy Coffelt is the author and illustrator of many books, including two previous picture books about space science: Dogs in Space and Dogs in Space: The Great Space Doghouse. Her books have won numerous awards including Kirkus “Best Of”, ALA Notable Book, and the Boston Globe/ Horn Book Honor Award. She lives, writes, and draws in Baker City, Oregon.
